Then they came for the Socialists

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me.

First they came for the immigrants
And I did not speak out
Because I was not an immigrant
Then they came for the trans folk
And I did not speak out
Because I was not trans
Then they came for the student protesters
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a student
Then they came for the homeless
And I did not speak out
Because I was not unhoused
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me.
